Living on a Fixed Income

Living on a fixed income isn’t what it used to be. Social Security payments have been nibbled by lower payments, higher Medicare contributions, inflation and the need to pay for more items than ever before. Pension annuities are down too. The managers of those funds have not been able to maintain the earnings of the principle in this recessionary economy. Add to that the recent tech-crash, 9/11-crash and the housing-crash and the value we once had has been decimated.

The paradigm of work for a wage or salary in order to pay for now and later has been a fleeting one. Indeed it has not…
